I love game design and rapid prototyping. I enjoy generating ideas, implementing features, solving problems, and embracing some happy accidents. I create games at school, at game jams, or in my free time just to enjoy the process and learn something new!
Use the Force (thesis project)
This educational game concludes my 2-year journey in the Games for Learning program at NYU. The game is made with Unity by myself.
"Make Newtonian physics more intuitive" - I started the project with this goal in mind. In the game, players can see and manipulate the forces, and see how the cube's movement is affected. The design is driven by learning theories and design principles.
Inheritance (school project)
This is a platformer I made with Unity to explore the theme "Inheritance". I want to convey the idea of "family passing down social status" through a tree-planting metaphor.
What does "Inheritance" mean in a family? In this game, you start with only a tree seed, but you will build up a family that helps you go higher and higher up.
An assignment for the Prototype Studio at NYU Game Center.
Given the theme "Joined Together", I made this platform game that players get over difficult obstacles by joining cubes together.
I created the whole game in two days with Unity.
Clean Your Shit Up (Global Game Jam 2020)
Team size: 3
Role: Level Designer
Awards: (Runner-up) Best Game Design at Global Game Jam 2020
The game is made in 2 days with the theme of Repair. Inspired by people who love to keep their space clean, the simulation game is about organizing a desk.
In this fast-moving team, I looked for free game assets and made sure they fit together visually. I designed the office environment and the messy desk.
Math Visuals (school project)
Projects visualizing math in Unity. All the visuals are generated with pure C# code without imported assets.
I attempted to show the beauty of math through these visuals. Each visual relates to math concepts such as Sin functions, geometry, noise, and randomness...
Assignments for the Math for Game Designers class at NYU Game Center.
Endless Five (school project)
A hyper-casual number game. Players create number sequences by connecting adjacent grids. I want to create a fast-paced, satisfying, and addicting experience.
An assignment for the Prototype Studio at NYU Game Center.
TOSOP Game (school project)
This project is a tribute to my favorite band Glass Animals. Inspired by their song "The Other Side Of Paradise", I attempted to convey the mood of the song through pictures on their website.
An assignment for the Prototype Studio at NYU Game Center.
Realm Rush (personal project)
A tower-defense game with a little twist - the enemies change their routes on the fly. You have to carefully plan where to put your towers.
Following an online course, I scripted the enemy behavior using path-finding, set up the level using provided assets, polished the looks, and tuned the gameplay.
